August 15: Stag Hill Community Restoration

Over the past couple of years, one of MEVO Earth Crew’s primary clean-up locations has been Stag Hill Road in Mahwah, NJ, a beautiful mountainous area of our municipality that, regardless of how many times we return or how many bags of garbage we fill, always seems to have trash waiting for us. For several decades, Stag Hill Road was used as an illegal dumping grounds, and the damage that this pollution inflicted upon this once pristine natural region of our town has left a massive environmental scar that many believe cannot be mended. However, we here at MEVO will be taking the first steps towards proving those people wrong! On Wednesday, August 15th, MEVO will be taking on our biggest project ever – a 100 volunteer trash clean-up of Stag Hill Road – but we need all of your help to accomplish this goal! We truly believe that with the aid of all you MEVO Earth Crew volunteers, as well as that of our friends at the Jewish Community Center, we can take a successful leap towards finally restoring the Stag Hill community. We will be meeting at the Ramapo Valley County Reservation in Mahwah, NJ at 10 AM, and carpool to Stag Hill from there. We should be finished between 3 PM and 4 PM. As usual, please remember to wear strong shoes and clothes you don’t mind getting dirty, as well as lots of water! Restoring Stag Hill has been a goal of MEVO ever since our first clean-up there, but remember, we can’t achieve it without all of you! To RSVP for this event send an email to mevovolunteers@mevoearth.org with your name, age, phone number and the subject line “Stag Hill Community Restoration Effort.” You can also RSVP through Facebook.
