The (Many) Problems with Tires

Eww, look at the rotting tire! See how disgusting it looks? Unfortunately, it’s something pretty common in Mahwah and in Stag Hill. Worse an old tire a serious pollutant that a) NEVER really biodegrades b) Is a breeding ground for mosquitoes, which can carry deadly disease such as  encephalitis and dengue fever c) If caught on fire will be extremely difficult to put out and will leave some oily reside all over the soil while it burns. And to top it all off, while a tire never really biodegrades it DOES slowly release toxic chemicals into the air and heavy metals into the soil bit by bit. And we have a lot of these tires lying around New Jersey. So when you see a tire on the road next time, think about whats really lying there…
