Presenting, for the world, all of MEVO’s beehives! MEVO has gotten over six beehives in place at its various farms over the past few months—the hives in the top photo are located in our Pony Power Farm and the hives in the bottom photo are located at our BCC Farm.
Now for some special details about each of these hives. Each hive is inspected at least once week to make sure nothing is going on with the bees. The middle blue hive at Pony Power has two honey supers, which are like honey ware houses, and one will be harvested by the bees at the end of summer, and the other hive will be used by the bees during the winter. And the leftmost hive in our BCC photo has bees that the Executive Director, Eric Fuchs-Stengel, caught from a tree. If that’s not awesome I don’t know what is.
All of these hives will produce hundreds of pounds of honey next summer. And it will be a most sweet harvest for MEVO.
